Beach Sloth Review HOPE

Louise Cappi - HOPE

A powerful celebratory spirit informs Louise Cappi’s delicate, breezy beauty of “Hope”. Her voice has a commanding presence to it, for it draws from R&B, jazz, and pop in a way that gives it a classic timeless quality. Full of so much optimism there is a kindness there one that guides the song forward. Instrumentally they have a light touch, from the grace of the bass guitar, to the stately air of the piano, even the bluesy guitar, it all comes together in a way that feels kaleidoscopic. Right in the very heart of the whole work is her voice, the very core that ties the rest of the song together.

Bass introduces the piece with its steady pulse. Upon a few moments of setting the scene the quiet beginning grows and grows. Her verses have a tremendous urgency to it, one that explores the concept of faith, of believing in the future. Full of a great deal of life, the melodic richness of the song proves to be outright intoxicating. Nicely sprawling the secondary star of the work comes from the genteel bass, one that worms its way throughout the entirety of the piece in a way that is quite majestic. The build of the sound leads to a fantastic burst of color at the finish, as the whole of the piece looses itself in the best way possible before fading out.

“Hope” revels in the sincerity of Louise Cappi’s message, one that has a tenderness in how it all unfurls.
